46 Days

Hi!
So I didn't forget about my blog I promise. Not enough has happened to warrant much of an entry. But here goes for now;
I have 46 days until February 17th. 46 days of home, family, and friends, until I pack it up and leave for 6 months. I take off from LAX on the group flight in February and land in Melbourne on the 19th... due less to a long flight (that is if you call 13 hours a short one) than the time change, which is 18 hours. Pretty much a day ahead. After a two-day orientation in Melbourne I hop back onto a plane and fly to Brisbane.
Though most American students live in off campus apartments together I'm living on campus in a University College. The culture shock should be an adventure.

Until I register for my classes and begin to pack my things I've been reading travel books, saving money, and researching slang and basic culture differences (never never never ask for a napkin in a restaurant...).

I got a small jar of vegemite for Christmas. It has the popularity in AU that peanut butter has in the US. It has got to be the grossest stuff I have ever tried. Don't do it.

I'm going to miss the things around me. The space and the Arizona sky. I'm going to a school of 36000 students. I've never lived anywhere with that kind of population. In a strange city. In a new country. It will be so different and new, but my greatest adventure yet.

Did you know?: Australia has approximately 21 million people. 40 million jars of vegemite are eaten every year (bleh). There are 54 million kangaroos.
