And Counting....

Hello.

I decided to start a blog today. My hope is to be able to publish my various adventures in a communal place where it can be accessed by, you!

Because you see, I'm going to Australia.

My grandfather was, among many things, a world traveler. I remember being small and listening to stories of his from Africa, Asia, Europe, and many other places, all exotic and all seeming very far away. With the exception of less visitor friendly places like Antarctica, he had been to every continent. Except one.

It was a goal he never got to reach. I'm not doing it for him, I am most certainly going to fufill a dream that has been lifelong, though I have a sneaky feeling that his influence had been affecting. I'm not going for him, but I feel like he's coming with me.

I hope you do too by reading this, which I promise to faithfully update.

I have been to Costa Rica with a camp group, and I've kind of been to Canada. I've never flown clear across the ocean, and I've certainly never been immersed entirely into a culture and a life completely removed from my own. I am going to Australia- a continent roughly the size of the United States with a fraction of the cities. It has the driest desert of any continent, 90% of the continent has been declared uninhabitable, and it has the most poisonous creatures.

I can't wait.

I am currently filling out the paperwork. I just bought my plane ticket. Next month I get my Visa. I leave February 17th, and my countdown has begun.

Did you know:
Kangaroos and Emus cannot walk backwards. This is why they are featured on the Australian Coat of Arms.
